PARISH NEWS

The next MULTICULTURAL MASS PLANNING MEETING will be held on Saturday, 1st September 2018 at 10:00 am in the meeting room off the church hall. All are welcome to attend.

ROYDEN D’SOUZA will be assisting for the first time as Deacon at the 10:30am Mass on Sunday 9th September in our church. All are invited. Please bring a plate of finger food to share at the fellowship after Mass.

ROSTERS FOR READERS AND EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS, PIETY STORE & COMMUNION TO THE SICK are ready for collection from the Hall from this weekend. Please collect your copy as soon as possible.

NATURAL DISASTERS HOME & ABROAD
A letter from the Most Rev Peter A. Comensoli, Archbishop of Melbourne relating to the natural disasters at home and abroad has been placed on the noticeboards. The Archbishop draws our attention to the fires and droughts in Australia and the Kerala floods.

KERALA FLOODS - CARITAS ACTIONS
Many priests and parishioners would be aware of the flood disaster that has hit the Indian state of Kerala. Caritas India is one of the agencies providing support for the people of Kerala at this time. Caritas Australia, through our Asia Emergency Fund, is providing support to Caritas India, and will continue to monitor the needs of the people of Kerala. Our Asia Emergency Fund can be accessed through the Caritas website, www.caritas.org.au. In the meantime we can all pray for our distressed brothers and sisters in Kerala.

PLEASE NOTE

  • There will be no First Friday Devotion on Friday, 7 September because of Our Lady’s Novena and fellowship.
  • Eugene will celebrate the 9:15am Mass on Saturday 8 September as Fr. Vincent will be attending Royden’s Diaconate Mass at the Cathedral.

HEALING MASS
The next Healing Mass will be held on Saturday, 1st September from 1:30pm.  All are invited.

PARISH REFURBISHMENT
We are pleased to announce that the parish refurbishment works are almost complete and day masses will now be held in the church. The School and the Parish have also taken the opportunity to review repair to the entire car park which will result in better lanes and additional car parks. As such vehicle access to the church will be restricted. We expect the car park to be repaired in the upcoming school holidays. We do understand that this will cause further inconvenience in movement of traffic to the church and thank you for your continued understanding.

HSI SCHOOL OF DISCIPLESHIP
The 2018-19 session of the Holy Spirit Interactive (HSI) School of Discipleship commenced on 12th August. The first five weeks are a come and see whether you would like to join. MOVIE NIGHT
Thank you to all those who braved a chilly evening and came for the Movie Night which was much enjoyed by all. We also collected $270 for the Young Adults Ministry activities. Thank you. Young Adults

BIBLE STUDY

ANNUAL FATHER’S DAY APPEAL FOR THE PRIESTS RETIREMENT FOUNDATION
This appeal will be conducted the weekend of Sept 1/2. The appeal helps raise funds to enable the Foundation to care for our priests who are in retirement by way of providing them with accommodation, medical care and support.

NATIVITY OF OUR LADY NOVENA
The novena for the feast of the Nativity of Our Lady will start on Thursday 30 Aug until the feast day on 8 Sep. The 9th day, 7 September, will end with a shared supper.  Please bring a plate of finger food to share. We are looking for people to lead the Rosary each day of the novena.  If you would like to do so, please call the parish office on 9749 4300 as soon as possible. Thank you.
