HSI SCHOOL OF DISCIPLESHIP
The 2018-19 session of the Holy Spirit Interactive (HSI) School of Discipleship commenced on 12th August. This is a faith outreach program aimed to teach members more about our Catholic faith with three purposes – to learn it, live it and share it. The school has been successfully running for the past 2 consecutive years in our parish and members have testified to growing both spiritually and personally. We are currently in our fourth week and the response has been good. The first five weeks are a come and see whether you would like to join. We meet every Sunday at 6:15pm in the community centre. All are welcome. For further information contact Anita D’Souza on 0411 772 320 or Sharon D’Silva on 0430 099 654.

YOUTH MASS
Our parish will hold a youth Mass on Sunday 23rd September 2018 at 5:00pm. All youth and young adults are invited to attend at which time Fr. Vincent will provide a special blessing to the youth of our parish. All youth and young adults of our parish are invited to stay back after mass for fellowship.

LETTER TO THE FAITHFUL FROM THE ARCHBISHOP OF MELBOURNE
Referring to the letter from Pope Francis on the subject of clerical sexual abuse and the ecclesial cover-up that has often accompanied, our Archbishop, the Most Rev Peter Comensoli makes some of the following comments. To see the full letter, please check the noticeboards.  Copies of the letter are also available at the rear of the church.

“I associate myself with these words, and the whole content of Pope’s Francis’ letter: https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2018-08/pope-francis-letter-people-of-god-sexual-abuse.html.

No words of apology – while always needed – will ever be enough to right the evil done to those who have been abused, and those who were not listened to and believed. Efforts to repair the harm done – while entirely necessary – cannot overcome the evil perpetrated upon innocent children and vulnerable adults, and the harm experienced by families and communities.

Therefore, and looking ahead, it falls to me, as your Archbishop, to ensure that our local Church in Melbourne is unequivocally committed to attending to the harm done, prioritising the dignity and care of all who are young and vulnerable, rebuilding trust among our people, and creating safe environments in our communities, agencies and organisations. This is the way of Jesus Christ. It must be my way. And I invite you to join with me in making it our common Gospel way.

PARISH REFURBISHMENT
We are pleased to announce that the parish refurbishment works are complete and all masses will now be held in the church. The School and the Parish have also taken the opportunity to review repair to the entire car park which will result in better lanes and additional car parks. As such vehicle access to the church will be restricted. We expect the car park to be repaired in the upcoming school holidays. We do understand that this will cause further inconvenience in movement of traffic to the church and thank you for your continued understanding.
