It is also an opportunity to come in your national dress.

THE EXTRAORDINARY MISSIONARY MONTH – OCTOBER 2019
In response to Pope Francis' invitation to participate in an Extraordinary Missionary Project in the month of October, the Parish wishes to support St. Mary's House of Welcome in Fitzroy which was started by the Daughters of Charity and has been running for over 60 years. It is an "Open Access Centre" that provides all meals, showers, fresh clothing for the homeless, the disadvantaged and people in distress. A special collection for this cause will be taken on the weekend of the 26th/27th October. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated.

PARISH MISSION PROGRAM – SEASON OF LENT 2020
Saturday 14 to Friday 20 March 2020. Our parish is planning a Parish Mission Program during the Season of Lent 2020 starting on Saturday 14th until Friday 20th March. The facilitator is Fr Ray Sanchez, a Passionist from St Mary’s Retreat Community, Queensland. Fr Ray has conducted several Parish Mission Programs overseas as well as all over Australia. The overall aim of the Mission Program is twofold.

  1. To assist in the individual faith education and renewal of parishioners.
  2. To assist in highlighting the emphasis on the Church as ‘Community’ and help promote this spirit at our Parish.

He will preach and celebrate at all weekend Masses and Monday to Friday 2 sessions, 10am – 12pm and  repeated in the evening 7:30-9:30pm

The Mission Program will include some home gatherings or group meetings for parishioners to share their own faith stories a week or two prior to mission week. More information will be available in the bulletin in coming months. Our parish school are also very happy to participate. Fr Ray has already given an outline of topics he will cover catering for the different levels of the school.

Let us all embrace this Parish Mission Program, an opportunity to increase our faith to encounter Our Lord Jesus. We request your prayerful support and cooperation for this Parish Mission to be a success.

Fr. Vincent John & Dcn. Charles.

REFLECTION FOR 29TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
“…proclaim the word, be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient...” (2 Timothy 4:2)
It is not always convenient to be a good steward, especially when all the temptations of our busy and materialistic world get in the way. Now add our own pride and ego into the equation and living a stewardship lifestyle may be downright uncomfortable! Remember, God didn’t call us to be comfortable. He called us to be faithful.
