3rd Sunday of Lent 2020

PARISH NEWS

CORONA VIRUS
As per instructions from the Archdiocese, the following changes have been implemented due to current health issues associated with the Corona Virus:

  • There will be no Holy Water in the fonts
  • Holy Communion will only be given under the one species, The Body of Christ. The Precious Blood will not be distributed. The faithful are reminded that Christ is fully present under either species.
  • As the coronavirus is easily spread through saliva, the Body of Christ will only be administered in the hand because of the high risk of transmission if people continue to receive on the tongue.
  • The Sign of Peace will be announced verbally only.

This will continue until further notice. Please check the noticeboard for detailed information from the Archdiocese.

BIBLE STUDY – 16TH MARCH
The next Session will be held at 7:00pm in the Community Centre at St. Peter's Hoppers Crossing.  Message enquiries to Clive Gonsalves 0490814452 or Francis Thomas 0401787372.

IMPORTANT LENTEN INFORMATION
Ash Wednesday & Good Friday are days of Fasting and Abstinence from meat. All other Fridays, except solemnities, the law of the common practice of penance is fulfilled by any one of the following:

  1. Prayer eg – Mass attendance; family prayer; a visit to a church or chapel; reading the Bible; making Stations of the Cross; praying the Rosary, etc.
  2. Self Denial eg – not eating meat, sweets or dessert; giving up entertainment to spend time with family; limiting food and drink to give to the poor of one's own country or elsewhere, etc. Project Compassion is a major means of expressing self-denial in Australia.
  3. Helping Others eg – special attention to someone who is poor, sick, elderly, lonely or overburdened, etc.
