CLOSING OF THE EXTRAORDINARY JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
This weekend marks the end of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. On 8th December last year, Pope Francis opened the Holy Door at St Peter's Basilica, inviting the Church throughout the world to journey through a special time of celebration, reflection and spiritual growth. Pope Francis stated: "How much I desire that the year to come will be steeped in mercy, so we can go out to every man and woman, bringing the goodness and tenderness of God!  May the balm of mercy reach everyone, both believers and those far away, as a sign that the kingdom of God is already present in our midst!"

We have been called and graced to become more effective signs of God's mercy in the world.  We offer this mass in thanksgiving, for all this year has been for those within and beyond the universal church and we pray that the face of mercy continues to characterise the life of this community.

Our parish prayer group organises this by coordinating with our parishioners, other groups in our parish, prayer group benefactors and others from neighbouring parishes who attend the dawn Mass every year. Their generosity provides a festive breakfast for everyone who attends the dawn Mass. If any of you would like to be a part of this breakfast by either providing food or wish to donate towards it please contact Josephine at the parish office on 9749 4300 or email hopperscrossing@cam.org.au. If you would like to be one of the sponsors for breakfast, please put your name down on sheets that are available in the foyer.  You can choose a day to suit you from 16th to 24th December. Thank you.

AFTERNOON TEA, 18 DECEMBER 2016
Christmas brings us the Good News of ‘Emmanuel – God is with us’; reminding us of the presence of Christ in every moment of our lives. For the elderly of our parish, our parish group members of Mater Dolorosa Choir and a few other volunteers have decided to bring Christmas Cheer and help them experience this ever present love and peace of Christ by organising an Afternoon Tea in our Church Hall on Sunday 18 December from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Since this was planned later in the year and for want of space, they are forced to keep the numbers restricted to 100. For this reason, they can only accommodate the first 100 who respond to the invitation. Please call the parish office on 9749 4300 or email hopperscrossing@cam.org.au  Monday to Friday 9.30am to 3:00pm if you would like to attend.
