DEVOTIONAL PRAYER FOR DECEMBER
Advent Prayer

Father in heaven, the day draws near when the glory of your Son will make radiant the night of the waiting world. May the lure of greed not impede us from the joy which moves the hearts of those who seek Him. May the darkness not blind us to the vision of wisdom which fills the minds of those who find Him. May we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving. This Advent we pray for peace: peace in the world, peace in our homes and peace in our hearts. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.

1^st Reading (Micah 5:1-4)
A reading from the prophet Micah.
The Lord says this: You, Bethlehem Ephrathah the least of the clans of Judah, out of you will be born for me the one who is to rule over Israel; his origin goes back to the distant past, to the days of old. The Lord is therefore going to abandon them till the time when she who is to give birth gives birth. Then the remnant of his brothers will come back to the sons of Israel. I am coming to obey your will.’ Notice that he says first: You did not want what the Law lays down as the things to be offered, that is: the sacrifices, the oblations, the holocausts and the sacrifices for sin, and you took no pleasure in them; and then he says: Here I am! I am coming to obey your will. He is abolishing the first sort to replace it with the second. And this will was for us to be made holy by the offering of his body made once and for all by Jesus Christ.

Mary set out and went as quickly as she could to a town in the hill country of Judah. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. Now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said, ‘Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord? For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’

We invite you to the 26^th Year of the 9-Days Dawn Mass Novena celebrated at St. Peters which began on Thursday 16^th Dec, finishing on Fri 24^th Dec 2021. Masses at 5:00am daily. NO BOOKINGS required, however check-in via QR Code is still required. If you do not have a smart phone, Volunteers will assist. There will be no fellowship after Mass. ST. PETER'S RITE I RECONCILIATION FOR ADVENT THURSDAY 23^RD DECEMBER, 7:00PM
Please join us for our Rite I Reconciliation for Advent on Thursday 23^rd December at 7:00pm in our Church. There will be multiple Priests available to hear confession. This is a great way to prepare ourselves to welcome Jesus our Saviour into our hearts this Christmas. All Welcome!!

RCIA
The Rite of Acceptance into the order of Catechumens is the first step an enquirer into the Catholic faith makes in preparation for receiving baptism next Easter. On Sunday 12^th  December at the 8:30am mass, Heather Paxton, Riya Simon & Fritz Chisholm will be accepted as Catechumens by Fr. Vincent. Let us welcome Heather, Riya and Fritz into our church community.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER FOR DECEMBER
Advent Prayer

Father in heaven, the day draws near when the glory of your Son will make radiant the night of the waiting world. May the lure of greed not impede us from the joy which moves the hearts of those who seek Him. May the darkness not blind us to the vision of wisdom which fills the minds of those who find Him. May we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving. This Advent we pray for peace: peace in the world, peace in our homes and peace in our hearts. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.

Every time I pray for all of you, I pray with joy, remembering how you have helped to spread the Good News from the day you first heard it right up to the present. I am quite certain that the One who began this good work in you will see that it is finished when the Day of Christ Jesus comes. God knows how much I miss you all, loving you as Christ Jesus loves you. My prayer is that your love for each other may increase more and more and never stop improving your knowledge and deepening your perception so that you can always recognise what is best. This will help you to become pure and blameless, and prepare you for the Day of Christ, when you will reach the perfect goodness which Jesus Christ produces in us for the glory and praise of God.

We invite you to the 26^th Year of the 9-Days Dawn Mass Novena celebrated at St. Peters, starting on Thursday 16^th December and finishing on Friday 24^th December 2021.  Masses at 5:00am daily.  NO BOOKINGS required, however Proof of vaccination for all attending (12 years and over) must be shown to the Check-In Marshalls. The 2^nd edition of the SPYA Magazine releases on 27^th November. The purpose of this magazine is to engage and encourage young adults of the community to share, testify and learn more about the great work of our God. We plan to regularly share new articles, testimonies and stories relating to the work of God. The SPYA magazine will be released online to the SPYA and St. Peter Apostle Mission Parish Facebook pages and attached to the weekly Bulletin. Masses for those with Unknown Vaccination Status - Cap of 50 people per Mass
Wednesday 7.00pm and Sunday 5.00pm
(This will be on a first come first serve basis). Please note that the Wednesday Perpetual Succour Novena will NOT be held in church until further notice.

• Bookings for weekday and weekend Masses are not required.
• Registration via QR Code (volunteers will be available to assist).
• Proof of vaccination for all attending (12+ years and over) must be shown to the Check-In Marshalls. Parishioners need to update “Services Victoria App” if they are fully vaccinated or have a vaccination exemption.

WORLD YOUTH DAY SUNDAY 21 NOVEMBER 2021
Pope Francis has called for a relaunch of the celebration of World Youth Day (WYD) marked on the Feast of Christ the King (21 November 2021). He announced that starting in 2021, this celebration—which has been traditionally held on Palm Sunday—will be held on the Sunday of the Solemnity of Christ the King (Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life). The theme for World Youth Day 2021 is ‘Stand up. I appoint you as a witness of what you have seen’ (Acts 26:16) - an invitation from Christ himself to each of us, young and old, to stand up and share our faith in Jesus. To mark World Youth Day, the 10.30 am Mass on Sunday 21 November will be a Youth Mass. The Youth will assist in all ministries at this mass. All youth in our parish are encouraged to attend. Fr Vincent will give a special blessing to all the youth at the conclusion of all masses on the weekend of 20/21 November.

A reading from the first book of Kings.
Elijah the Prophet went off to Sidon. And when he reached the city gate, there was a widow gathering sticks; addressing her he said, ‘Please bring me a little water in a vessel for me to drink.’ She was setting off to bring it when he called after her. ‘Please’ he said ‘bring me a scrap of bread in your hand.’ ‘As the Lord your God lives,’ she replied ‘I have no baked bread, but only a handful of meal in a jar and a little oil in a jug; I am just gathering a stick or two to go and prepare this for myself and my son to eat, and then we shall die.’ But Elijah said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, go and do as you have said; but first make a little scone of it for me and bring it to me, and then make some for yourself and for your son. 2^nd Reading (Heb 9:24-28)
A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Hebrews.
It is not as though Christ had entered a man-made sanctuary which was only modelled on the real one; but it was heaven itself, so that he could appear in the actual presence of God on our behalf. And he does not have to offer himself again and again, like the high priest going into the sanctuary year after year with the blood that is not his own, or else he would have had to suffer over and over again since the world began. Instead of that, he has made his appearance once and for all, now at the end of the last age, to do away with sin by sacrificing himself. Since men only die once, and after that comes judgement, so Christ, too, offers himself only once to take the faults of many on himself, and when he appears a second time, it will not be to deal with sin but to reward with salvation those who are waiting for him.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER FOR OCTOBER
World Mission Sunday

Dear Lord, I thank you for the gift of faith with which you have blessed me. Thank you for the profound difference this has made in my life since I have come to know you - for the peace, hope and joy I now experience every day thanks to your love, grace and mercy.

Lord, with the intercession of the Virgin Mary, I pray that every person, family and community, throughout the whole world, can experience the joy of your love and have their lives changed for the better.

I pray for continued strength and perseverance for the missionaries who are sharing the Gospel in often extremely difficult circumstances.

I pray that more community churches can be built, and catechists and missionaries trained, so that more people in need can have the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus and be healed in their bodies and souls.

I ask you this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A reading from the letter to the Hebrews.
Every high priest has been taken out of mankind and is appointed to act for men in their relations with God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins; and so he can sympathise with those who are ignorant or uncertain because he too lives in the limitations of weakness. That is why he has to make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people. No one takes this honour on himself, but each one is called by God, as Aaron was. Nor did Christ give himself the glory of becoming high priest, but he had it from the one who said to him: You are my son, today I have become your father, and in another text: You are a priest of the order of Melchizedek, and for ever.

When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and to say, ‘Son of David, Jesus, have pity on me.’ And many of them scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted all the louder, ‘Son of David, have pity on me.’ Jesus stopped and said, ‘Call him here.’ So they called the blind man. ‘Courage,’ they said ‘get up; he is calling you.’ So throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and went to Jesus. Then Jesus spoke, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ ‘Rabbuni,’ the blind man said to him ‘Master, let me see again.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go; your faith has saved you.’ And immediately his sight returned and he followed him along the road.

UPDATED PARISH GUIDELINES
The Victorian Government has eased restrictions to accommodate indoors 20 fully vaccinated or 10 unvaccinated. However, our church will continue to remain closed until 5th November  when we anticipate a further easing of restrictions thus enabling many more people to attend Mass. Currently, all Parish facilities are unavailable. The Parish Office is closed, however staff are working from home Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Kathleen, Ryan, Anna and family thank Fr. They know that they are not alone in their grief and they thank everyone for reaching out to them in their time of sorrow. Most of all, they are humbled by the outpourings of love shown for Dcn. Charles, evident from the many remembrance messages.

CHILDREN’S WEEK (23 – 31 OCTOBER)
This week is Children’s Week which is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children and offers us an opportunity to reflect on the social conditions that affect the lives and future of our children.
