DEVOTIONAL PRAYER FOR APRIL
CORONAVIRUS PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ, you travelled through towns and villages curing every disease and illness. At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love.

Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbours from helping one another. Heal us from our pride, which made us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.

Lord Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.

Be with families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know your peace. Be with doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace. Be with leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth.

Whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness or only a few, Lord Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace. Lord Jesus Christ, heal us.

Entrance Antiphon
I have risen, and I am with you still, alleluia. You have laid your hand upon me, alleluia. Too wonderful for me, this knowledge, alleluia, alleluia!

1st Reading (Acts 10:34, 27-43)
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles
Peter addressed Cornelius and his household: ‘You must have heard about the recent happenings in Judaea; about Jesus of Nazareth and how he began in Galilee, after John had been preaching baptism. God had anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and because God was with him, Jesus went about doing good and curing all who had fallen into the power of the devil. Now I, and those with me, can witness to everything he did throughout the countryside of Judaea and in Jerusalem itself: and also to the fact that they killed him by hanging him on a tree, yet three days afterwards God raised him to life and allowed him to be seen, not by the whole people but only by certain witnesses God had chosen beforehand. Now we are those witnesses – we have eaten and drunk with him after his resurrection from the dead – and he has ordered us to proclaim this to his people and to tell them that God has appointed him to judge everyone, alive or dead. It is to him that all the prophets bear this witness: that all who believe in Jesus will have their sins forgiven through his name.’
The Word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.

2nd Reading (Col 3:1-4)
A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Colossians.
Since you have been brought back to true life with Christ, you must look for the things that are in heaven, where Christ is, sitting at God’s right hand. Let your thoughts be on heavenly things, not on the things that are on the earth, because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God. But when Christ is revealed – and he is your life – you too will be revealed in all your glory with him.
The Word of the Lord.

Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, alleluia! Christ has become our paschal sacrifice; let us feast with joy in the Lord. Alleluia!

Gospel (Jn 20:1-9)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to St. John
It was very early on the first day of the week and still dark, when Mary of Magdala came to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb and came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. ‘They have taken the Lord out of the tomb’ she said ‘and we don’t know where they have put him.’ So Peter set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together, but the other disciple, running faster than Peter, reached the tomb first; he bent down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, but did not go in. Simon Peter who was following now came up, went right into the tomb, saw the linen cloths on the ground, and also the cloth that had been over his head; this was not with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and he believed. Till this moment they had failed to understand the teaching of scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
The Gospel of the Lord.

Communion Antiphon
Christ our Passover has been sacrificed, alleluia; therefore let us keep the feast with the unleavened bread of purity and truth, alleluia, alleluia!

A REFLECTION ON EASTER SUNDAY (Dcn. Charles English)
Jesus’s life on Earth did not end with His death and burial. He rose from the dead on the third day, as the Gospel tells us.

Easter is the most important Feast of the Church’s Liturgical year.

John, the beloved Apostle of Jesus, wrote his Gospel as an eye-witness of the life of Jesus, and what Jesus did and said.

John was the first Apostle to reach the tomb of Jesus on Easter Sunday morning. What John saw was an empty tomb and the linen cloths lying on the ground, and also the cloth that had been over Jesus’s head; this was not with the other linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself.

When John saw the empty tomb, he must have recalled Jesus’s prophecy that He would rise up again in three days. Through the gift of faith, John realised that no tomb on Earth could ever contain the Lord, the giver of life.

The reality of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus, is the central fact of our Catholic faith.

Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Lord gives us ‘eyes of faith’ to know Him and to know the power of His Resurrection.

The greatest joy we can have is to encounter the living Christ and to know Him personally, as Our Lord and Saviour.

‘Why do you seek the living among the dead?’ the angels asked the women at the empty tomb. This question enables us to overcome the temptation to look back, to what was yesterday, and it spurs us on to the future.

JESUS IS NOT IN THE SEPULCHRE, HE IS RISEN!

Entrance Antiphon
Hosanna in the highest! Blessed are you, who have come in your abundant mercy!

1st Reading (Is 50:4-7)
The Lord has given me a disciple’s tongue. So that I may know how to reply to the wearied he provides me with speech. Each morning he wakes me to hear, to listen like a disciple. The Lord has opened my ear. For my part, I made no resistance, neither did I turn away. I offered my back to those who struck me, my cheeks to those who tore at my beard; I did not cover my face against insult and spittle. The Lord comes to my help, so that I am untouched by the insults. So, too, I set my face like flint; I know I shall not be shamed.
The Word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm
My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?

2nd Reading (Phil 2:6-11)
His state was divine, yet Christ Jesus did not cling to his equality with God but emptied himself to assume the condition of a slave and became as men are; and being as all men are, he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross. But God raised him high and gave him the name which is above all other names so that all beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name of Jesus and that every tongue should acclaim Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The Word of the Lord.

Gospel Acclamation
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, king of endless glory!
Christ became obedient for us even to death, dying on the cross. Therefore God raised him on high and gave him a name above all other names.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, king of endless glory!

Gospel (Mt 26:14-27:66)
Due to the length of the Gospel, we are unable to offer a printed version this week. Instead we provide a Reflection.

Palm Sunday 2020

With the celebration of Palm Sunday/Passion Sunday, we enter into the Holy Week. During this Holy Week we commemorate and relive Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection. Not only that, our commemoration must include our own dying and rising in Him, which results in our healing, reconciliation and redemption.

Jesus laid down His life for the salvation of the human race, cooperating with the Will of the Heavenly Father. Just as Jesus did, we too must lay down our lives freely, by actively participating in the Holy Week liturgies, reading the Bible and praying. In doing so, we are allowing Jesus to forgive us our sins and the sins of others, and to transform us more completely into the image and likeness of God.

The Passion Story shows how Jesus responded to what was done to him. He absorbed all the violence, transformed it and returned it as love and forgiveness. This was the victory of love over all the powers of destruction. There was nothing but love in him. Even when they nailed his hands and feet, he was loving. It helps us to think about this when we are going through hard times, particularly with the pandemic Covid-19. But if our love of God and neighbour is deep and strong, we will be able to freely accept these sufferings as a way of sharing in Christ’s love. We will also be able to reach out to others with love and diminish their sufferings. We will be able to see in those who suffer due to the coronavirus, the suffering face of Christ.

Jesus’ passion taught us that victory comes through suffering. Passion was not the last word in the life of Christ. It was only the first word of the Holy Week which will reach its climax on Easter Sunday.

So too, however depressing these days may seem, they are not the last word in our life. Rather, they are only the prelude to triumphs we have yet to experience in this life, and they point to the ultimate victory which will be ours in the next life. Palm Sunday should solidify our hope.

Palms should be signs that we are willing to march with Jesus, not only in moments of triumph and glory, but also in times of trial, suffering and agony. For the passion and resurrection of Jesus prove that life will prevail over death; that when death has done even its worst, life will still be victorious.

May the merciful Lord strengthen your hope and keep you safe always. During this uncertain time please be assured of my prayers for all of you my parishioners.
Father Vincent John CMI.

5th Sunday of Lent Readings & Responses

Entrance Antiphon
Give me justice, O God, and plead my cause against a nation that is faithless. From the deceitful and cunning rescue me, for you, O God, are my strength.

1st Reading - Ezek 37:12-14
A reading from the prophet Ezekiel.
The Lord says this: I am now going to open your graves; I mean to raise you from your graves, my people, and lead you back to the soil of Israel. And you will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and raise you from your graves, my people. And I shall put my spirit in you, and you will live, and I shall resettle you on your own soil; and you will know that I, the Lord, have said and done this – it is the Lord who speaks.
The Word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm
With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption.

2nd Reading - Rom 8:8-11
A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Romans.
People who are interested only in unspiritual things can never be pleasing to God. Your interests, however, are not in the unspiritual, but in the spiritual, since the Spirit of God has made his home in you. In fact, unless you possessed the Spirit of Christ you would not belong to him. Though your body may be dead it is because of sin, but if Christ is in you then your spirit is life itself because you have been justified; and if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, then he who raised Jesus from the dead will give life to your own mortal bodies through his Spirit living in you.
The Word of the Lord.

Gospel Acclamation
Glory and praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ! I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord; whoever believes in me will not die for ever. Glory and praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ!

Gospel - Jn 11:1-45
A reading from the holy Gospel according to St. John.
There was a man named Lazarus who lived in the village of Bethany with the two sisters, Mary and Martha, and he was ill. It was the same Mary, the sister of the sick man Lazarus, who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair. The sisters sent this message to Jesus, ‘Lord, the man you love is ill.’ On receiving the message, Jesus said, ‘This sickness will end not in death but in God’s glory, and through it the Son of God will be glorified.’ Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus, yet when he heard that Lazarus was ill he stayed where he was for two more days before saying to the disciples, ‘Let us go to Judaea.’ The disciples said, ‘Rabbi, it is not long since the Jews wanted to stone you; are you going back again?’ Jesus replied: ‘Are there not twelve hours in the day? A man can walk in the daytime without stumbling because he has the light of this world to see by; but if he walks at night he stumbles, because there is no light to guide him.’ He said that and then added, ‘Our friend Lazarus is resting, I am going to wake him.’ The disciples said to him, ‘Lord, if he is able to rest he is sure to get better.’ The phrase Jesus used referred to the death of Lazarus, but they thought that by ‘rest’ he meant ‘sleep’, so Jesus put it plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead; and for your sake I am glad I was not there because now you will believe. But let us go to him.’ Then Thomas – known as the Twin – said to the other disciples, ‘Let us go too, and die with him.’ On arriving, Jesus found that Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days already. Bethany is only about two miles from Jerusalem, and many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to sympathise with them over their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus had come she went to meet him. Mary remained sitting in the house. Martha said to Jesus, ‘If you had been here, my brother would not have died, but I know that, even now, whatever you ask of God, he will grant you.’ ‘Your brother’ said Jesus to her ‘will rise again.’ Martha said, ‘I know he will rise again at the resurrection on the last day.’ Jesus said: ‘I am the resurrection and the life. If anyone believes in me, even though he dies he will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ she said ‘I believe that you are the Christ, the   Son of God, the one who was to come into this world.’ When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in a low voice, ‘The Master is here and wants to see you.’ Hearing this, Mary got up quickly and went to him. Jesus had not yet come into the village; he was still at the place where Martha had met him. When the Jews who were in the house sympathising with Mary saw her get up so quickly and go out, they followed her, thinking that she was going to the tomb to weep there. Mary went to Jesus, and as soon as she saw him she threw herself at his feet, saying, ‘Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.’ At the sight of her tears, and those of the Jews who followed her, Jesus said in great distress, with a sigh that came straight from the heart, ‘Where have you put him?’ They said, ‘Lord, come and see.’ Jesus wept; and the Jews said, ‘See how much he loved him!’ But there were some who remarked, ‘He opened the eyes of the blind man, could he not have prevented this man’s death?’ Still sighing, Jesus reached the tomb: it was a cave with a stone to close the opening. Jesus said, ‘Take the stone away.’ Martha said to him, ‘Lord, by now he will smell; this is the fourth day.’ Jesus replied, ‘Have I not told you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?’ So they took away the stone. Then Jesus lifted up his eyes and said: ‘Father, I thank you for hearing my prayer. I knew indeed that you always hear me, but I speak for the sake of all these who stand round me, so that they may believe it was you who sent me.’ When he had said this, he cried in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, here! Come out!’ The dead man came out, his feet and hands bound with bands of stuff and a cloth round his face. Jesus said to them, ‘Unbind him, let him go free.’ Many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary and had seen what he did believed in him.

KEEPING THE FAITH
Helping families stay connected

PROJECT COMPASSION 2020
Message from Deacon Jim Curtain, Diocesan Director of Caritas Australia, about the Project Compassion 2020 Appeal.

We here at Caritas understand that many in our community will have financial concerns, worries about health, and worries about their future due to the COVID19 crisis. We do appreciate that many generous people who would normally give may no longer be in a position to do so. However through Project Compassion we support people and communities in countries that have nothing like the resources of Australia, where governments do not have the ability to provide social welfare payments or subsidise employers to keep people in work. Bearing in mind the uncertainty that we are all experiencing, we would still ask that, if you are able, you consider continuing to support Project Compassion as best you can.

Thank you for your generosity in the past, and for whatever you feel able to give now.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER FOR MARCH

Amen.

Entrance Antiphon Rejoice, Jerusalem, and all who love her. Be joyful, all who were in mourning; exult and be satisfied at her consoling breast.
1st Reading
1 Sam 16:1,6-7,10-13
A reading from the first book of Samuel.
The Lord said to Samuel, ‘Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have chosen myself a king among his sons.’ When Samuel arrived, he caught sight of Eliab and thought, ‘Surely the Lord’s anointed stands there before him,’ but the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Take no notice of his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him: God does not see as man sees: man looks at appearances but the Lord looks at the heart.’ Jesse presented his seven sons to Samuel, but Samuel said to Jesse, ‘The Lord has not chosen these.’ He then asked Jesse, ‘Are these all the sons you have?’ He answered, ‘There is still one left, the youngest; he is out looking after the sheep.’ Then Samuel said to Jesse, ‘Send for him; we will not sit down to eat until he comes.’ Jesse had him sent for, a boy of fresh complexion, with fine eyes and pleasant bearing. The Lord said, ‘Come, anoint him, for this is the one.’ At this, Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him where he stood with his brothers; and the spirit of the Lord seized on David and stayed with him from that day on.
The Word of the Lord.
Responsorial Psalm The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
2nd Reading
Eph 5:8-14
A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians
You were darkness once, but now you are light in the Lord; be like children of light, for the effects of the light are seen in complete goodness and right living and truth. Try to discover what the Lord wants of you, having nothing to do with the futile works of darkness but exposing them by contrast. The things which are done in secret are things that people are ashamed even to speak of; but anything exposed by the light will be illuminated and anything illuminated turns into light. That is why it is said: Wake up from your sleep, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.
The Word of the Lord.
Gospel Acclamation Glory to you, Word of God, Lord Jesus Christ! I am the light of the world, says the Lord: whoever follows me will have the light of life.
Glory to you, Word of God, Lord Jesus Christ!
Gospel
Jn 9:1-41
A reading from the holy Gospel according to St. John.
As Jesus went along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. He spat on the ground, made a paste with the spittle, put this over the eyes of the blind man, and said to him, ‘Go and wash in the Pool of Siloam’ (a name that means ‘sent’). So the blind man went off and washed himself, and came away with his sight restored. His neighbours and people who earlier had seen him begging said, ‘Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?’ Some said, ‘Yes, it is the same one.’ Others said, ‘No, he only looks like him.’ The man himself said, ‘I am the man.’ They brought the man who had been blind to the Pharisees. It had been a Sabbath day when Jesus made the paste and opened the man’s eyes, so when the Pharisees asked him how he had come to see, he said, ‘He put a paste on my eyes, and I washed, and I can see.’ Then some of the Pharisees said, ‘This man cannot be from God: he does not keep the Sabbath.’ Others said, ‘How could a sinner produce signs like this?’ And there was disagreement among them. So they spoke to the blind man again, ‘What have you to say about him yourself, now that he has opened your eyes?’ ‘He is a prophet’ replied the man. ‘Are you trying to teach us,’ they replied ‘and you a sinner through and through, since you were born!’ And they drove him away. Jesus heard they had driven him away, and when he found him he said to him, ‘Do you believe in the Son of Man?’ ‘Sir,’ the man replied ‘tell me who he is so that I may believe in him.’ Jesus said, ‘You are looking at him; he is speaking to you.’ The man said, ‘Lord, I believe’, and worshipped him. Jesus said: ‘It is for judgement that I have come into this world, so that those without sight may see and those with sight turn blind.’ Hearing this, some Pharisees who were present said to him, ‘We are not blind, surely?’ Jesus replied: ‘Blind? If you were, you would not be guilty, but since you say, “We see,” your guilt remains.’
The Gospel of the Lord.

Communion Antiphon
The Lord anointed my eyes: I went, I washed, I saw and I believed in God.

PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH
St Joseph, You were receptive to God working in your life. Help us by your prayers at this time of trial. You kept Jesus and Mary under your watchful care: may your prayers assist our local Church to respond to those in need. You taught the Christ Child your trade and prayers: help us to follow his example of love. You were part of God’s plan for all humanity: assist us to be vigilant and responsible this day. You spent your life in service: may we be mindful of others, particularly the elderly and vulnerable, caring for them in these difficult days. You trusted in the clear primacy of God over all history and every situation: help us to grow in faith and pray to the Father, thy will be done. Amen.
Please  keep this prayer close to your heart as we meet the many challenges we will inevitably face in the weeks ahead.

St Joseph

PRAYER OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, And I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot, at this moment, receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Parish Guidelines for our Church

  • Our church will remain open from 7:00am to 5:00pm every day to encourage private prayer.
  • When at church, please maintain a reasonable distance (approx. 1.5m) between each other. Be aware that we cannot have more than 100 people in church at any given time. (This number could change as the situation changes).
  • Hand sanitisers are available at the entrance to the church.
  • All regular, timetabled Masses have been suspended, including weekday and Sunday Masses.
  • All public gatherings in our parish including church services, meetings, choir practices, prayer group meetings, etc. in parish venues are cancelled until further notice.
  • Thanksgiving Envelopes can be dropped into the slot on the wall located at the side of the Sacristy door, under the cabinet containing the oils. This is where Mass Offerings are also placed.
  • Please keep the Lord’s Day holy and celebrate Sunday by taking time to pray together as a family. Mass Online is available for people to join together in spiritual communion. The following weblinks are offered to view and participate in Holy Masses.
    http://bit.ly/MassOnDemand          https://melbournecatholic.org.au/Mass        www.wordonfire.org/daily-mass

Please note that the Sunday Obligation will not apply during this time of suspension.

Guidelines from the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

The following guidelines apply throughout the Archdiocese of Melbourne:

  • All but priests are dispensed from attending Sunday Mass (canon 1248): the faithful can keep holy their Sunday by setting aside some time for prayer at home, reading the Scriptures of the day, watching Mass on television or online, and asking God for the graces they would normally receive in Holy Communion.
  • Priests should celebrate daily Mass without the physical presence of the lay faithful and offer it on behalf of those who cannot attend and for the whole nation.
  • Churches should remain open for private prayer as much as possible.
  • The Second and Third Rites of Reconciliation should not be used; First Rite of Reconciliation should only be heard through a protective screen (made of plastic or similar) i.e. no direct face-to-face reconciliation other than the sick in hospital or in their home.
  • Other instructions will be issued to clergy regarding Baptisms of several children, the RCIA and the various rites of the Triduum.
  • As far as possible, churches should remain open to allow private prayer; the Blessed Sacrament might be exposed in the monstrance for this purpose (as long as fewer than 100 are attending and with the usual provisions for reverence and security of the Sacrament).
  • On days when this is liturgically permitted (see Ordo pp. 10-11), priests should offer the Mass for the Sick, the Mass for Any Need or a votive Mass such as that of Our Lady of Lourdes or St Joseph.
  • Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals may be celebrated if necessary, restricted to immediate family (and small bridal parties etc.); baptisms and weddings can, of course, be postponed.
  • Preparation for and celebration of First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation for children should be postponed until the pandemic is over.
  • All ministers should follow precautions recommended by health authorities when visiting people’s homes, aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons and detention centres.

PARISH NEWS

CORONA VIRUS
As per instructions from the Archdiocese, the following changes have been implemented due to current health issues associated with the Corona Virus:

  • There will be no Holy Water in the fonts
  • Holy Communion will only be given under the one species, The Body of Christ. The Precious Blood will not be distributed. The faithful are reminded that Christ is fully present under either species.
  • As the coronavirus is easily spread through saliva, the Body of Christ will only be administered in the hand because of the high risk of transmission if people continue to receive on the tongue.
  • The Sign of Peace will be announced verbally only.

This will continue until further notice. Please check the noticeboard for detailed information from the Archdiocese.

IMPORTANT LENTEN INFORMATION
Ash Wednesday & Good Friday are days of Fasting and Abstinence from meat. All other Fridays, except solemnities, the law of the common practice of penance is fulfilled by any one of the following:

  1. Prayer eg – Mass attendance; family prayer; a visit to a church or chapel; reading the Bible; making Stations of the Cross; praying the Rosary, etc.
  2. Self Denial eg – not eating meat, sweets or dessert; giving up entertainment to spend time with family; limiting food and drink to give to the poor of one's own country or elsewhere, etc. Project Compassion is a major means of expressing self-denial in Australia.
  3. Helping Others eg – special attention to someone who is poor, sick, elderly, lonely or overburdened, etc.
  • All who have turned 18 and who are not yet 60 are bound to fast. All who have completed 14 are bound to abstain. (Canon 1252)
  • Lent is a time of penance. During this season the faithful are exhorted to devote themselves in a special manner to prayer, to engage in works of piety and charity and to deny themselves.
  • All faithful are obliged to receive Holy Communion at least once a year. This precept must be fulfilled between Ash Wednesday 26 February 20 and Trinity Sunday, 7 June 20 unless for a good reason it is fulfilled at another time during the year.

The wonderful gift of the Lord’s merciful love is offered in a special way in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Lent is a most appropriate time to receive this Sacrament. All who have reached the age of discretion are bound faithfully to confess their grave sins at least once a year.

FUNERALS on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday are forbidden. Funerals on these days are celebrated with the Liturgy of the Word and without the Eucharistic Sacrifice.

WEDDINGS are discouraged on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. If they are required, no decorations including flowers, no music or Nuptial Mass will be permitted.
