GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY, 7 MAY
This weekend 6/7 May, we welcome Huy Nguyen from Corpus Christi College to our parish for Good Shepherd Sunday. He will give a reflection on vocations and his own experiences at the Masses over the weekend. Please pray for him and for men studying at the seminary and for vocations from our parish.

ROSARY DURING THE MONTH OF MAY
During the month of May, Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm in church every day from Monday to Friday and after the evening Mass on Saturday and Sunday. All parishioners are invited to join us.

100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPARITIONS OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA
May 13 is the Centenary of the First Apparition of Our Lady at Fatima. Pope Francis will canonise two of the Visionaries, Bl. Francisco and Bl. Jacinta Marto at Fatima that day. The Carpenters Shop invites male & female parishioners to join them in the Community Centre that morning at 7:45am to venerate Our Lady. A statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be carried in procession at 8:30am to the side chapel in the church where it will be available for veneration until 10:30am. If you wish to join us for breakfast at 7:20am, ring Les on  0401 541 666 or email Les at bevlesj@yahoo.com.au. Numbers may be limited for the breakfast so contact Les early.

To mark this special occasion our Parish will make the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima available for veneration in the side Chapel, on the 13th of every month, commencing Saturday 13th May, the first apparition, until October, the last apparition. Kindly check the flyer on hall notice board for timetable. Pope Francis has declared a Special Indulgence for those venerating the Statue on these special days. The conditions for the Indulgence is set out on the notice next to the flyer in the hall.

BIBLE STUDY CLASS
Bible Study continues Monday May 8th from 7 pm to 9 pm in the Community Centre. We are at Luke Ch 7. All are welcome. Experience God’s Word in a different and interactive way. Enquiries call Royden on 0426071375.

PIETY STORE

PETER’S SCHOOL WALKATHON
This year the school is raising funds for outdoor furniture and equipment for the students.  Fr. Pius will be joining the students in their Annual Walkathon on 15th May and we are requesting parishioners to support this fundraiser by sponsoring Fr. Pius.  Sponsorship envelopes are available at the back of the church and in the hall. We thank you for your support.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The usual meeting of the Hoppers Crossing Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will be held next Tuesday, 2 May at 7:30pm in the Parish Community Centre. After all Masses this weekend, 29/30 April, the Ladies Auxiliary will have a muffin stall in conjunction with the Sausage Sizzle.

ST MARY’S WILLIAMSTOWN CELEBRATES 175 YEARS
St Mary's Primary School at 118 Cecil Street, Williamstown is celebrating 175 years of continuous Catholic education. Founded in 1842, St Mary's Primary has been identified as the oldest continuously operating Catholic school in Victoria, creating a proud history which includes a direct association with the Sisters of St Joseph from 1900 to 1999.  The strong link between parish, school and community continues today. BIBLE STUDY

HELPING YOUNG MEN OF MELBOURNE TO DISCERN THEIR VOCATION
There will be third collection next weekend (March 18/19) at all masses to support Catholic Vocations Melbourne who are sponsoring 12 youth of Melbourne the opportunity to walk the ancient pilgrimage route of the Camino de Santiago to the tomb of St James the Apostle to step out of their ordinary lives and to dedicate some time to discern their vocation whilst undergoing this pilgrimage. We are asked to donate generously to this worthy cause that can result in increased vocations to the priesthood in Melbourne. Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Are you buying Slavery-free Easter Chocolate? The International Labour Rights Forum (ILRF) estimates that there are 1.5 million children working in the cocoa sector in West Africa.  Many of these children have been enslaved, or forced to work in exploitative conditions. If you buy chocolate featuring one of these three certification symbols you will know that production of the chocolate is okay.
ACTION: Tell at least 5 other people about slavery-free chocolate this week.

Monday 27 – Friday 31 March, at 9.45am and 7.30pm St Andrew’s Church, 105 Greaves Street North, Werribee  This is an all-ages mission event to inspire you in your faith journey through stories, scripture, music, prayer and reflection, to be presented in morning and evening sessions by ‘The Catholic Guy’, renowned for his deeply powerful and often profoundly funny sessions. DAY OF FASTING AND PRAYER FOR REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS
The Archdiocese has advised that there will be a day of Fasting and Prayer for Refugees and Asylum Seekers.  Our Parish will hold this next weekend, 25/26 February.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA – CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS 3RD TO 5TH MARCH 2017
Our Parish is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima from Friday the 3rd of March through to Sunday the 5th of March to mark the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady in Portugal. This Statue is one of six which has been blessed by Pope Francis to travel the six continents. Please keep these dates free.

A petition box will be available over the three day visit for parishioners to place their petitions. Parishioners are also invited to bring a single rose on the last day (Sun 5th March) for the Rose Ceremony/Presentation after the 10:30am Mass. A flyer detailing the full program for the 3 days will be posted on the noticeboards next weekend.

PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS
Very soon the students for the priesthood will recommence their studies at Corpus Christi College, our seminary in Carlton. It is anticipated that there will be eleven new students for the Melbourne Archdiocese this year. Please keep them in your prayers, and pray for more vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. Perhaps God is calling somebody from our parish or family.

IMPORTANT LENTEN INFORMATION

  • Ash Wednesday, 1st March. Day of fast and abstinence. Masses at 8:30am and 7:00pm, School Mass at 10:00am.
  • Project Compassion commences 1st March until 15th April 2017. Project Compassion Envelopes and Boxes will be available in the church and hall. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
  • Starting 3rd March, there will be Stations of the Cross each Friday at 7:00pm followed by Mass.
  • The Divine Mercy Novena will start after the Good Friday service.
  • Lenten Regulations from the Vicar General have been placed on the noticeboards.

ROSTERS for PIETY STORE and COMMUNION TO THE SICK for March, April and May 2017 are now available for collection from the Hall.

BIBLE STUDY
We are pleased to announce that Bible Study classes will again commence at St. Peter Apostle Mission Parish. They will be held every second and fourth Monday with the first session on Monday 13th March, 2017 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Community Centre. We will be starting with the Gospel of St. Luke and moving to The Acts. The class will be conducted by Royden D’Souza who is currently forming to be a Permanent Deacon. All are welcome. Bring your Bibles and come to experience an interactive study of the Bible. Queries call Royden on 0426 071 375.

CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL: 50 YEARS COME CELEBRATE!
Mass St Patrick’s Cathedral 26 February 2017 at 2:00pm:  Archbishop Denis Hart will celebrate Mass at 2:00pm and launch the Jubilee Cross on Sunday the 26th February to begin its journey over Victoria. To celebrate the great gift of the Holy Spirit the Cross will be carried to 40 parishes in 40 weeks to show God’s love for ALL people.
