Prayer to End Abortion

Dear Lord,

As we are preparing for the birth of Jesus, let us pray for those people considering abortion.

We thank you each day for the precious gift of life you have given to us and all our brothers and sisters everywhere.

Sadly in our world today so many unborn babies will never share their lives and gifts that you have given them due to the act of abortion.

We pray that those contemplating abortion will reconsider.  May they know that life is precious and brings so much love into the world.   Amen

Prayer for all Mankind

Father of all,

As we begin the New Year let your peace, mercy and kindness be experienced by all people that they may come to know and love you, the one true God, their Lord and their Father.

Make yourself known to those who do not know you; may those who seek you find you.

Of your compassion, may every sorrow be comforted, every need supplied, every evil averted, every wrong righted, every hope realised.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.    Amen

Prayer for Lent

Merciful God,

You called us forth from the dust of the earth; you claimed us for Christ in the waters of Baptism.

Look upon us as we enter these Forty Days bearing the mark of ashes, and bless our journey through the desert of Lent to the font of rebirth.

May our fasting be hunger for justice; our alms, a making of peace; our prayer, the chant of humble and grateful hearts.

All that we do and pray is in the name of Jesus, for in his Cross we proclaim your love forever.   Amen

Prayer to St. Joseph for all workers

Saint Joseph, silent and well known carpenter in Nazareth, model of workers, by the work of your hands, you gave your contribution to the work of the Creator, you earned your living, and you provided for the needs of the Holy Family.

Intercede for all workers, in the difficulties of their daily lives, especially for the unemployed, in their anxieties for tomorrow, so that, through the guidance of God, the great Architect and Builder, they all may use their strength and their talents to make visible his Kingdom, his new creation, to offer a concrete service to society, and to earn wages worth of their efforts.     Amen

Prayer to Mother Mary for all Mothers

Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ and heavenly Mother to all of Gods' families, we pray for your guidance to give all Mothers the grace and love to receive the children that God sends to them and to understand the sanctity of all children’s lives.

Help all Mothers to teach their children to live their lives in the service of God and our Parish Communities.

We pray with confidence to you our Holy Mother and ask you to give all Mothers joy and delight in their children to sustain them through the trials of Motherhood.

Please graciously hear all our prayers and help us to trust in your mercy and love all our days.  Amen

A Family Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart

We consecrate to You, O Jesus of Love,
all the trials, joys and happiness of our family life,
and we beseech You to grant peace and unity in our home,
and to pour out Your blessings on all its members,
absent and present, living and dead;
and when one after the other we shall have gone into eternity,
O Jesus may we find again our family united in Your Sacred Heart.

Amen.

Sanctity of Marriage

Almighty and Eternal God, you have exalted the unbreakable bond of marriage so that it has become the sacramental sign of Your Son’s union with the Church as His spouse.

Look with favour on all you have united in marriage and all couples contemplating this Sacrament.

We pray that in good times and in bad they will grow in love for each other and know that you Lord are there to help them in all their struggles.

Dear Lord help all married couples to know that You are the source and completion of every happiness. Amen

St. Mary MacKillop of the Cross

Most loving God, we thank You for our country and our own Saint Mary MacKillop, a woman who faced life’s challenges with faith and courage and witnessed to the human dignity of all life here in .

In following the example of St. Mary MacKillop may we strive to make our country a place full of wisdom and learning, free of poverty and injustice and a land where You Lord are praised in peace and love. Amen

For All Fathers

Dear Lord, we thank You for our earthly fathers, those to whom you have entrusted the responsibility to provide loving protection of their families and guidance of their children.

We thank You, also, for our Priests and Bishops, whose spiritual fatherhood is vital to the faith of Your people.

We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice.

We ask your blessing on all fathers embracing their vocation.  May your Holy Spirit inspire them with justice and mercy, wisdom and strength, fidelity and self-giving love.

We remember all fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory.  Amen

Prayer for Migrants and Refugees

Lord Jesus, today you call us to welcome the members of God’s family who come to our land to escape oppression, poverty, persecution, violence and war.

Lord Jesus, help us by your grace,

To banish fear from our hearts, that we may embrace each of your children as our own brother and sister;

To welcome migrants and refugees with joy and generosity, while responding to their many needs;

To give witness to your love for all people, as we celebrate the many gifts they bring.

We praise you and give you thanks for the family you have called together from so many people.

We make this prayer through Father, Son and Holy Spirit.   Amen

Prayer for all the Faithful Departed

Almighty Father,
You made everyone in you own image and likeness,
and when that image was defaced by sin, you restored it through Christ:

Hear our prayers, we pray you, for all our brothers and sisters
who have gone to their rest in the hope of the resurrection,
and show them the glory of your face.

Through Christ our Lord.     Amen

Prayer to the Holy Family

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate
the splendour of true love; to you we turn with trust.

Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too
may be places of communion and prayer,
authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth, make us more mindful of the
sacredness and inviolability of the family,
and its beauty in God’s plan.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph graciously hear our prayer.     Amen
