FR. PIUS

For those who were not here and would still like to contribute towards a gift, please place your contribution in an envelope marked “Fr. Pius” prior to next weekend and drop it into the collection bag. There will be a farewell Mass for Fr. Pius on 8 Oct at 10:30am. We ask parishioners to kindly bring a plate of food to share after Mass when we will present Fr. Pius with our gift of gratitude.

We warmly welcome into our St Peter’s community

Fr Vincent John who will be our parish priest from 11th October 2017 onwards.  Fr Vincent is currently parish priest at St Agnes Parish in Highett.

FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION – OCTOBER 7TH

Conducted by the Alliance of the Two Hearts. Starts with Holy Mass at 7:00pm, followed by an hour with the Blessed Sacrament, then Holy Rosary, Divine Office, Divine Mercy Novena and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. All are welcome.

 LIFE MARRIAGE & FAMILY SUNDAY – SUN 8TH OCTOBER

Kindly note that there will be a special blessing given to all pregnant mothers and their babies at all the weekend Masses of 7th & 8th October.

 

ROSARY DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER

To commemorate the Feast of Our Lady of The Rosary, during the month of October, the Rosary will be recited daily in the Church at the following times:

Monday to Friday – after Morning Mass and at 6:30pm

Saturday – 8:40am prior to the 9:15am Mass

Sunday – 8:10am, prior to the 8.30am Mass

MARCH FOR THE BABIES

On October 10, 2008, the Victorian Parliament passed the Abortion Law Reform Act, one of the most extreme abortion laws in the world. This law eliminated all legal protection for Victorian children until the moment of birth. On Saturday October 7 at 1:00pm, defenders of the unborn will march from Treasury Gardens to Parliament House to express our solidarity with the unborn and their mothers.

VENERATION OF THE STATUE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA - FRIDAY 13TH OCTOBER

To mark the 100th Anniversary of the 6th Fatima Apparition, the Statue of Our Lady will be available for veneration all day in the Church side Chapel from 8:00am until 7:30pm. Kindly note that the Rosary will be recited after the 8:30am Mass and again in the evening at 6:30pm. It was at this final Apparition that the Miracle of the Sun witnessed by 70,000 people, occurred. Pope Francis has offered a Plenary Indulgence for those who venerate the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima in a public place on that day, subject to the usual conditions (see notice board in hall). All Welcome.

Pride and ego are hard things to control. We see how others act or dress and think we are superior to them. We idolize our own self- image. But, if we truly believe everything is a gift from God, we recognize all the people that God has put in our lives as gifts! We are grateful for how they enrich our lives. Pray every day for the people in your life.

RECENTLY DECEASED:  We pray for Albert Dichenko, Lucina Malabanan, Teresita Duenas Rita Canale, John Tanti and all who passed away recently.

EXCITING NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL

On Monday 18th Sep St. Peter's students participated in the Wakakirri Award Ceremony at Hamer Hall. They competed in a heat against 7 other schools at the start of September. After the heat performance they won the Best Adapted Story, then got invited to perform at the Awards night. Following Monday night’s performance, they won the best adapted story in Victoria. The performance now goes on to be judged against the winners of other States in Australia and they have a chance to become National champions. Wakakirri is a competition where children are asked to present a story through drama and dance. This story is told in a seven minute presentation with a backing track and in full costume and makeup. Our Congratulations and blessings to all the students for their wonderful performance and to the teachers, staff, parents and all who helped in this competition.
