FR. VINCENT IS AWAY FOR FOUR WEEKS
Fr Vincent will be on annual leave and overseas from 13th January to 13th February 2020. We wish Fr Vincent a safe trip, a blessed and enjoyable time with his congregation, family and friends. Please welcome Fr Greg Bourke and Fr Eugene San who will be assisting in Fr Vincent's absence.
LITURGY OF THE WORD & COMMUNION SERVICE WHILE FR. VINCENT IS AWAY
The following Communion Services will replace Mass:
8:30am – Monday, January 20 to Friday January 24
8:30am – Monday, 27 January to Friday 31 January
9:15am – Saturday, 1 February
7:00pm - Novena Mass will be held on Wednesday, 22nd and 29th January. Please note that there will be no Healing Mass in February. For more details, please check the doors for Mass/Communion Service times while Fr. Vincent is away until 13 February.
CAR PARK DRIVEWAY REFURBISHMENT
Dear Parishioners, due to urgent upgrade of the car park driveway, please note that the main gates will be closed in both directions from Monday 20th January to Wednesday 22nd January. Works will commence at 7:30am each day until completion. Access to the church will be through the side gate only. We apologise to all parishioners for any inconvenience caused.
READERS AND COMMUNION MINISTERS
The next roster will include the Easter Ceremonies. An Availability Form to cover these dates is available in Hall. Please collect as soon as possible and leave your completed form in the Sacristy or return to the Parish Office by January 25th 2020.
The first Healing Mass for 2020 will be held on Saturday, 7th March 2020

FEAST OF STO NINO
Sunday, 26th January 2020 at St. Peter’s. Procession starts at 11:30am followed by Eucharistic Celebration at 12 noon. All are invited to join us in this celebration. You are welcome to bring your icons with you to the procession.
AUSTRALIA DAY – SUNDAY 26TH JANUARY
To commemorate Australia Day the National Anthem will be sung at the conclusion of all Sunday Masses.
MICK GASTIN'S 100TH BIRTHDAY
Our long time parishioner, Mick Gastin turns 100 next weekend. To commemorate this milestone, our parish will have a Morning Tea after the 8:30am Mass on Sunday, 26th January. You are kindly requested to bring a plate of sweet or savoury food to share at Morning Tea. Thank you.
SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR BUSHFIRE CRISIS (ST. VINCENT DE PAUL BUSHFIRE APPEAL)
To support the victims of the recent bushfire disasters all around Australia, the Archbishop has encouraged all parishes to have a special collection which will be directed to the 'St. Vincent de Paul Bushfire Appeal' to enable our unfortunate brothers and sisters to rebuild their lives after such terrible devastation. The collection will be taken on the weekend of 25/26 January 2020. Your generous contribution towards this cause is greatly appreciated. A statement from Archbishop Mark Coleridge, President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference outlining the Catholic Church’s national response is available on the noticeboard in the hall
THE SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL wishes to thank all those who contributed to the giving tree for Christmas. Because of your contributions and from donations from the school community, we were able to supply hampers to 120 families in our area.

FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF OUR LORD (also known as CANDLEMAS) - SUNDAY 2ND FEBRUARY
A special 'Blessing of Candles' will be given at the 6:00pm Mass on Saturday, 1st February, and 8:30am, 10:30am and 5:00pm Masses on Sunday, 2nd February. Everyone is invited to bring their own candles and place them on the table near the Sanctuary before the start of Mass. These blessed candles serve as a symbol of Jesus Christ, who referred to Himself as the Light of the World.
BIBLE STUDY MONDAY 3 FEBRUARY
Combined Parishes of St. Peters and St. James will commence on Monday 3rd February at 7:00pm in the Theatrette at St. Peter's Hoppers Crossing, conducted by Clive Gonsalves and Francis Thomas. Come and experience an interactive study of the Gospel of John with teachings, explanations, reflections and sharings with audio visuals. Theology @ the Pub are thrilled to kick off the New Year with our very own Archbishop Peter Comensoli, talking around the topic of 'Being a Catholic in 2020 Melbourne'. As young adults in a very secular city, it can sometimes be difficult to navigate our way through the many challenges we face. How are we called to evangelise? What would the Archbishop like the young people of Melbourne to focus on this year? These are some of the questions he will be focusing on, whilst allowing time to answer questions from the audience.

“Now the Lord has spoken who formed me as his servant from the womb...” (Isaiah 49:5)
God has given each of us different gifts. In order for God’s plan to work, you have to do what God is calling you to do, and I have to do what God is calling me to do. And guess what? God has given each of us a different plan! So, stop comparing yourself to others. Don’t let envy and jealousy enter your life. Be thankful for the gifts God has given you and generously share them with others.
