DEVOTIONAL PRAYER FOR NOVEMBER
CORONAVIRUS PRAYER
God our Father, we come to You in our need, to ask Your protection against the COVID-19 that has disturbed and even claimed lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked to find cures for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us the grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant all these through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
We fly to Your protection, oh Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our petition in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, Oh glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.
Our Lady, health of the sick, pray for us.

Let us rejoice in the Lord, as we celebrate the feast day in honour of all the Saints, at whose festival the Angels rejoice and praise the Son of God.
1st Reading (Apoc 7:2-4,9-14)
A reading from the book of Apocalypse.
I, John, saw another angel rising where the sun rises, carrying the seal of the living God; he called in a powerful voice to the four angels whose duty was to devastate the land and sea, “Wait before you do any damage on land or at sea or to the trees, until we have put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” Then I heard how many were sealed: a hundred and forty-four thousand out of all the tribes of Israel. After that I saw a huge number, impossible to count, of people from every nation, race, tribe and language: they were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands. They shouted aloud,“Victory to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” And all the angels who were standing in a circle round the throne, surrounding the elders and the four animals, prostrated themselves before the throne, and touched the ground with their foreheads, worshipping God with the words: “Amen. Praise and glory, and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and strength to our God forever and ever. Amen.” One of the elders then spoke and asked me, “Do you know who these people are, dressed in white robes, and where they have come from?” I answered him, “You can tell me, my lord.” Then he said, “These are the people who have been through the great persecution, and they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb.”

2nd Reading (1 Jn 3:1-3)
A reading from the first letter of St. John.
Think of the love that the Father has lavished on us, by letting us be called God’s children; and that is what we are. Because the world refused to acknowledge him, therefore it does not acknowledge us; My dear people, we are already the children of God but what we are to be in the future has not yet been revealed; all we know is, that when it is revealed we shall be like him because we shall see him as he really is. Surely everyone who entertains this hope must purify himself, must try to be as pure as Christ.

Seeing the crowds, Jesus went up the hill. There he sat down and was joined by his disciples. Then he began to speak. This is what he taught them: How happy are the poor in spirit; theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Happy the gentle: they shall have the earth for their heritage; Happy those who mourn: they shall be comforted; Happy those who hunger and thirst for what is right: they shall be satisfied; Happy the merciful: they shall have mercy shown them; Happy the pure in heart: they shall see God; Happy the peacemakers: they shall be called sons of God; Happy those who are persecuted in the cause of right: theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Happy are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.

DAILY MASS BOOKINGS
Our church is now open for Masses with a limit of 10 people per service. If you would like to make a booking, please call the Parish Office on 9749 4300. Bookings will only be taken BETWEEN 10:00AM & 12 NOON ON TUESDAY, THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. Masses are held Monday to Friday 8:30am, Saturday 9:00am, Sunday 10:30am. There are additional Masses at 11am & 7:00pm on Monday 2nd November as it is All Souls Day. There will be a Memorial Mass on Friday 20 November at 7 pm which will be livestreamed, further details to follow. We will inform you via the bulletin and Facebook when regular Masses resume.

MEMORIAL BOOK FOR NOVEMBER
November is a special time to pray for the dead. All Souls Day (November 2) is a day for the commemoration of all the faithful departed. This November as we are unable to gather as usual in church, to enable families to add the names of the deceased in the Memorial book we are requesting that you email the names to the parish office at stpeters@westnet.com.au or hopperscrossing@cam.org.au. We will add the names in the Memorial book and Fr Vincent will pray for their souls in the month of November.
ONLINE CHILDREN’S LITURGY
St Peters Young Adults Online Children’s Liturgy for children aged 5 – 8 years will be held this Sunday 1st November 2020 from 11:30am to 12:30pm. The sessions are held fortnightly. Children pray together, read and listen to the Gospel and are supported to grow in their faith through sharing and activities. We welcome you and your family to take part! Parents are required to register their children before attending. To enrol your child in this program, please email the Parish office at hopperscrossing@cam.or.au or call on 9749 4300 (Tues/Thursday/Friday 9:00am – 3:30pm) and we will send you an enrolment form to register your child, which is to be completed and returned. Our parish ensures that child e-safety is maintained as we follow the child safety guidelines recommended by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

“FRATELLI TUTTI”: SHORT SUMMARY OF POPE FRANCIS’S SOCIAL ENCYCLICAL
Fraternity and social friendship are the ways the Pontiff indicates to build a better, more just and peaceful world, with the contribution of all: people and institutions. With an emphatic confirmation of a ‘no’ to war and to globalized indifference.

What are the great ideals but also the tangible ways to advance for those who wish to build a more just and fraternal world in their ordinary relationships, in social life, politics and institutions?
This is mainly the question that Fratelli tutti is intended to answer: the Pope describes it as a “Social Encyclical” (6) which borrows the title of the “Admonitions” of Saint Francis of Assisi, who used these words to “address his brothers and sisters and proposed to them a way of life marked by the flavour of the Gospel” (Par 1). The Encyclical aims to promote a universal aspiration toward fraternity and social friendship. In the background of the Encyclical is the Covid-19 pandemic which, Francis reveals, “unexpectedly erupted” as he “was writing this letter”. But the global health emergency has helped demonstrate that “no one can face life in isolation” and that the time has truly come to “dream, then, as a single human family” in which we are “brothers and sisters all” (Par 8).

THE READY, SET, PRAY! CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD @ HOME VIDEO SERIES has been created to provide an engaging space for families to encounter Jesus through the Sunday gospel. Each week includes an invitation for families to create and gather in their own prayer space, to sing, hear the Gospel, pray and respond creatively through an activity. This weekly resource follows the familiar Children’s Liturgy of the Word format provided in many parishes – but moved to an online setting. It can be used by families in their homes, and also by teachers and catechists. The series consists of 10 weekly sessions of 15-20 minutes duration, which commenced on Sunday 18th October and continues each Sunday until Christmas. We hope this experience of gathering for prayer will encourage families in this time when they cannot gather for parish celebrations of Eucharist.
