IMPORTANT PARISH NOTICES/CHANGES
Parishioners please note the following important changes:
- Fr. Vincent will be away for a Clergy Conference at Torquay on the 19th, 20th and 21st June, 2018. Fr. Eugene San will assist during Fr. Vincent’s absence.
- From July 2018, the Spanish Mass will be held at 1:15pm on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month instead of 12:00 noon.
- BAPTISM - From July 2018, the Sacrament of Baptism will be celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 00 noon.
The Baptism Preparation meeting will continue to be held at 7:00pm on the 1st Monday of the month in Church.
Parents are requested to kindly contact the parish office on 9749 4300 to register for Baptism of their child prior to attending the Baptism Preparation meeting.
ST. PETER'S PARISH FEAST MASS – SUNDAY 1ST JULY, 10:30AM
All Parishioners are invited to attend our annual St. Peter's Parish Feast Mass on Sunday 1st July at 10:30am followed by fellowship in the hall. We ask that you please bring a plate of sweet or savoury finger food to be shared after Mass.

TALENT NIGHT
Calling all talented youth!! Our youth and young adults are holding a Talent Night on Saturday June 23 (7:00pm in the church hall) to celebrate the gifted and talented youth in our community. If you, your friends or kids (age 0-29) can sing, dance, yodel, do magic tricks or show off any other talents, please contact Rhea on 0419 046 809.
ADULT CHRISTIAN INITIATION AT ST PETER'S PARISH
The St. Peter's adult Christian initiation process, or RCIA, for people wishing to become Catholic, is now open for enrolment of new applicants. The program prepares unbaptised adults 16 years and older for the sacraments of initiation next Easter, and also baptised Christians, who wish to receive the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation in the Catholic Church. The program runs for 9 months to prepare the candidates to receive the sacraments. An appointment for new applicants may be made for Wednesday 18th July from 7:30 to 8:45pm in the Parish Theatrette, 38 Guinane Ave, Hoppers Crossing. THANKSGIVING ENVELOPES
Thanksgiving Envelopes will be available for collection from the hall this weekend. A very big thank you to all the volunteers who work so hard to get this organised in time.

BIBLE STUDY

HSI SCHOOL OF DISCIPLESHIP (HSI)
The Holy Spirit Interactive (HSI) School of Discipleship continues to run in the parish community Centre at 6:15pm on Sundays. This is a faith outreach program where members convene to pray, learn more about our faith and join in fellowship. The new module teaches more about ‘Making Disciples of all Nations’. STEWARDSHIP CORNER – 11TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body.”...…. 2 Corinthians 5:10
We are all accountable for the gifts God has given us – our time, our talent and our treasure. Each of us is accountable not only for our own life but for the lives of others as well. One day God will ask each of us what did we do with the gifts we were given. How will you respond?
PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION
There will be a third Collection next weekend June 23/24 for Peter’s Pence – the annual collection for the Holy Father. A brief explanation of the origins of the Peter’s Pence Collection is given below:
In 1871, Pope Pius IX formalized the practice of lay members of Church and "other persons of good will" – providing financial support directly to the Roman See. In general, contributions go to the local parish or diocese, who then provide contributions to support higher level offices. Collections for Peter's Pence go directly to Rome. Pius IX approved this practice in the encyclical Saepe Venerabilis, issued on 5 August 1871. The money collected is today used by the pope for philanthropic purposes. At present, this collection is taken each year on the Sunday closest to 29 June, the Solemnity of the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, according to the Roman Church.
