CHILD SAFE STANDARDS
We are in the process of implementing the upcoming Child Safe Standards required by the Victorian Government to be in place by 1 January 2017.  In the coming months we will be working with our parish groups and leadership teams to build on the child safety measures we already have in place in our community, to understand that the emphasis of these new legislative requirements is to effect further cultural change, helping with change in attitudes towards, and increase the awareness of, society’s obligations to the safety of our children.   Parents are responsible for the safety of their children when they bring them to church. In this context we wish to remind parents of young children to ensure that they are accompanied by one of the parents or adult siblings when they use the toilets in the Church Hall.  If you have any concerns – please report them to Fr. Pius or Dcn. Charles. Thank you for your support in keeping our children safe.

ST JAMES FETE
Saturday 15 October, 10:00am to 4:00pm on the church grounds at 336 Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing North. Rides and lots of stalls including white elephant, plants, cakes, kids craft, photo booth, charm bracelet making, craft, spinning wheel, BBQ, fairy floss, snow cones and a silent auction. Come and join in the fun.

POPE’S INTENTIONS FOR OCTOBER
Universal: That journalists, in carrying out their work, may always be motivated by respect for truth and a strong sense of ethics.
Evangelization: That World Mission Day may renew within all Christian communities the joy of the Gospel and the responsibility to announce it.

TWEET FROM POPE FRANCIS
