27th Sunday in Ordinary Time 2016

MARCH FOR THE BABIES

Following the voting down of the Infant Viability Bill earlier this year in the Upper house, it is important that we show witness to support the reduction in abortion legislation in Victoria. Please join us at this year's March for the Babies on Saturday 8th October 2016 at 1:00pm. The march commences in the Treasury Gardens (meet at the corner of Spring Street and Wellington Parade). Every year the March aims to affirm the right to life of every unborn child, assist women in crisis pregnancies and allow freedom of conscience for health care workers opposed to abortion. Please come along with your family and friends. You can also show your support by wearing Pink and Blue.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR ST. PETER’S SCHOOL

3rd Oct No School for children – Curriculum Day
4th Oct Term 4 commences – 8:45am

CHILD SAFE STANDARDS

We are in the process of implementing the upcoming Child Safe Standards required by the Victorian Government to be in place by 1 January 2017.  In the coming months we will be working with our parish groups and leadership teams to build on the child safety measures we already have in place in our community, to understand that the emphasis of these new legislative requirements is to effect further cultural change, helping with change in attitudes towards, and increase the awareness of, society’s obligations to the safety of our children.   Parents are responsible for the safety of their children when they bring them to church. In this context we wish to remind parents of young children to ensure that they are accompanied by one of the parents or adult siblings when they use the toilets in the Church Hall.  If you have any concerns – please report them to Fr. Pius or Dcn. Charles. Thank you for your support in keeping our children safe.

RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY will be celebrated in the archdiocese next Sunday October 9. On this day, we pray especially for all whose lives are threatened by abortion or assisted suicide. A blessing will be given to all pregnant mothers on this weekend.
