THE BROWN SCAPULAR OF OUR BLESSED LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL
A little bit of information on the brown Scapulars which were so kindly distributed by the Brothers and Sisters of Two Hearts at all masses last weekend.

Since the Scapular is a sign of total consecration to Mary, it should be a constant reminder to clothe ourselves with her virtues, to radiate her grace and beauty in our daily lives and to live in humble submission to God’s will.

Mary lived to serve her Divine Son. The Scapular should remind us to rise up, go in haste and be always about Our Father’s business. She still lives to serve and we ought to be with her. Our constant prayer to her should be: USE ME TODAY. And as Pius XII, the great Lover of the Scapular writes, “Certainly the most gentle Mother will not delay to open, as soon as possible, the gates of heaven for her children.”

Evangelization: That seminarians and men and women entering religious life may have mentors who live the joy of the Gospel and prepare them wisely for their mission.

REFLECTION FOR , 13TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather serve one another through love.”             Galatians 5:13

We like to celebrate the fact that we are free to “live the good life.”  But Jesus calls us to a different kind of freedom.  St. Paul reminds us that Jesus sets us free so that we can serve one another, share our gifts and promote God’s work here on earth to glorify His name and not honor ourselves.

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS AND THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
Hail O most loving Hearts of Jesus and Mary! We venerate You, we love and honour You. We give and consecrate ourselves to You forever. Receive us and possess us entirely. Purify, enlighten, and sanctify us, so that we may love You Jesus, with the Heart of Mary, and love You Mary with the Heart of Jesus. O Heart of Jesus, living in Mary and by Mary. O Heart of Mary, living in Jesus and for Jesus. O Heart of Jesus pierced for our sins and giving us Your Mother on Calvary. O heart of Mary pierced by sorrow and sharing in the sufferings of your Divine Son for our redemption. O sacred union of these Two Hearts. Triumph O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Reign O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, in our hearts, in our homes and families, in Your Church, in the lives of all the faithful, in the hearts of those who as yet know You not and in all the nations of the world. Establish in the hearts of all mankind the sovereign triumph and reign of Your Two Hearts so that the earth may resound from pole to pole with one cry; Blessed forever be the most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary!

O dearest St. Joseph I entrust myself to your honour and give myself to you, that you may always be my father, my protector, and my guide in the way of salvation. Obtain for me a greater purity of heart and a fervent love for the interior life. After your example may I do all my actions for the greater glory of the triune God, in union with the Divine Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. O dearest St. Joseph, pray for me that I may share in the peace and joy of your holy death, Amen.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER - 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”   LUKE 9:23
We are not very good at “denying ourselves” in our society.  Our current economic situation is evidence of what happens when people think they can have everything they want.  Jesus calls us to set our own personal “wants” aside so that we have the resources to follow Him instead.

11th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
“When I entered your house, you did not give me water for my feet…”    LUKE 7:44
Today’s Gospel calls us to consider how we serve God. Do we consume like the Pharisee who simply reclines at the table and expects to be served? Or, do we contribute like the woman who kneels before Jesus and washes His feet? Every day we must make a choice. Take or give? Consume or contribute? Recline or serve?
